JS Bach - Viola Concerto BWV 169, Soloist - Barbara Hornung Dvorak - Symphony No 7, Op 70 Verdi - Prelude to Act III of â?,??"La Traviataâ?,? Barbara Hornung comes from a large musical family. She began learning to play the viola from her father Richard Hornung and grew up playing chamber music with her siblings. After completing her studies at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide, Barbara joined the Australian Youth Orchestra and performed throughout Europe. Barbara remained in Holland to study Solo Performance at the Haag Conservatorium with Rainer Moog and Vladimir Mendelssohn. She has been employed by various orchestras in the Netherlands and Australia including The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Australian Pops Orchestra. Highlights have included working under conductors Frans Br?...±ggen, Carlo Felice Cillario, Simone Young and Kent Negano and tours with Luciano Pavarotti, Kiri Te Kanawa and the Bolshoi Ballet. Barbara enjoys playing with ensembles such as the Raga Dolls Salon Orchestra and the Auburn Ensemble Australia. She is currently working on a project collaborating solo viola with eurythmy dancing. Alongside her performing activities Barbara runs a dynamic private teaching practice and teaches Viola and Violin at Korowa Anglican Girls' School. Tickets at the door - $20/$15.
